This past Friday was SCAD’s career fair. While I’m not looking for a job or internship for the summer since I’ll be here in Savannah finishing my undergraduate degree; I did want some feedback on my portfolio.

First off: I had been told there would only be about three agencies there but when I arrived to my surprise I found there was about eight—and they were all stellar. I’m talking CP+B, Energy BBDO, Leo Burnett, AKQA, Razorfish, Tracy Locke, and Ogilvy just to name a few. We had to sign in with our SCAD card and fill out a name tag. My first order of business was to differentiate myself from all the designers and AD’s walking up to the agencies—because I’m a Copywriter. I wrote on the tag, underneath my name, ‘Copywriter’. And boy, what a good decision that was.

I walked up booth by booth pitching myself to each agency and received some great feedback on how to make myself and my work stronger. A lot of it was things I already assumed but it was a good kick in the ass to try harder. I met some great agency people and I think the day will definitely have a strong impact on how I work at SCAD for the next year.
