Five Last Weeks
I haven’t been updating my Tumblr very regularly in no way, shape, or loose form. Let’s try sharing some things. Things are getting hectic with finishing up my M.A. at SCAD and job searching—but it’s an exciting time.
I’m heading up to NYC from May 16-18th, and one step closer to actually moving there (hopefully) come this summer. Next week I’ll be pushing out my...

Facebook Burma-Shave Exercise
Today in my copywriting class we were to create a Burma-Shave-like rhyming tactic for Facebook. Hopefully this makes you laugh.

Beef.Org Manifesto Exercise
In my Exploring Copywriting Genres class we write exercises in different styles/genres of writing. Our most recent exercise was to write a Manifesto for either Beef.Org or vegetarianism. I chose the former, written in the style of the 37signals manifesto. It is as follows:

Take your rightful place in the food chain.
Why else would we have opposable thumbs if not to hold our...

Mandarin Chinese + Connecting to my great-granpa
After watching some of Tim Ferriss and Kevin Rose’s Random Show I became acutely interested in learning a new language. I’ve always wanted to travel to Asia, specifically China, Japan, and Thailand.
A little family history: my great-grandfather was a missionary in Singapore and published the first educational geography book there. Pretty cool. He was also fluent in Mandarin,...

Coffee: A short ramble.
I am fascinated by coffee. The aroma, the flavors, and the enormously large ecosystem that delivers South American brew to my cup. It’s really an integral part of my day. Opening the bag and immediately receiving a nostril-pleasing waft of fresh grounds. Scooping out the grinds, being careful not to drop not even a single spec—as if it was the most valuable resource in the world (it is).
Then...

The Future of Advertising? →
Fast Company article on the future of advertising. I don’t completely agree with the arguments made in this piece—especially ending on the note of the industry contracting. However, it was interesting to learn more about other ad schools including Hyper Island—although I don’t want to create advertising in a vacuum.

Reflecting on The Career Fair
This past Friday was SCAD’s career fair. While I’m not looking for a job or internship for the summer since I’ll be here in Savannah finishing my undergraduate degree; I did want some feedback on my portfolio.
First off: I had been told there would only be about three agencies there but when I arrived to my surprise I found there was about eight—and they were all stellar....
Nom Nom Nom: Cocoa and Coconut Snacks →
I’ve been reading Mark Sisson’s Blog as well as his book, The Primal Blueprint and been incorporating a lot of his ideas into my diet. This is a phenomenal recipe that takes about 10-15 minutes and is full of flavor.
Delicious little snack balls of glory I made tonight for dessert. They’ve got a really rich flavor and I saved some to have with my coffee tomorrow morning. Came...

Damn, I got gusto.
Haven’t updated this bad boy in months, so I figured now is a good a time as any to do so. This week I finally finished my application to SCAD Graduate school for a Master of Arts degree in the Advertising Copywriting program. I’m hoping it will give me another year to develop my book better and a deeper understanding of writing.
In other news I’m on my sixth week of P90X!...
Do your best and forget the rest.

NSAC'n It Up.
I’m on my college’s National Student Advertising Competition team this year. Our client is the Century Council, an anti-binge drinking organization comprised of distillers. Today we presented for Nancy Rice and Deborah Morrison, two distinguished creatives and professors at other leading ad schools. The presentation went well but boy, have we got a lot of work to do. Tomorrow is a film...
The Doughboy.
Hello Kiddies,
On Monday in my Advertising History class we were graced with, among other thing, a special visitor. Our professor told us that the creator of the Pilsbury Doughboy was visiting our class. During our presentations a man of roughly 75 showed up, clutching a small red box, that looked quite aged. Art, our professor, introduced him as Carl. Carl explained he was once the Creative...
